Feuertanzer is the product of generations of selective breeding. His pedigree is filled with Grand Prix performers and 4 Elite stallions in the first three generation alone. His sire line is famous for superb rideability, and his dam line is wel known for performance at the highest levels.
True to his heritage, Feuertänzer possesses all of the qualities desired in the modern sporthorse. His exceptional temperament, conformation, gaits, and jumping aptitude are well documented. In 1999, Feuertänzer was presented to the American Trakehner Association for stallion approval. He was overwhelming approved with unheard of scores which later earned him "Premium" status (one of only four stallions receiving this honor from the ATA). His marks of ALL 9's and 8's were the 2nd highest ever given by the ATA!
The 1990-1998 Top Ten USDF Leading Sires list contains Feuertänzer's sire, grandsire, and great grandsire. These three stallions are not only outstanding sires, they are all accomplished FEI competitioorses as well. Success truly does breed success!
Unfortunately, Feuertänzer was injured before he could complete his performance requirement and receive his full breeding approval from the ATA. He suffers from a back injury as a result of being badly cast in his stall. We hope that his injury will one day resolve, but treatments thus far have failed to make him comfortable enough for regular training and competition. Because of this, he did not complete the novice level event required for permanent breeding approval, and he is no longer an approved stallion with the ATA. However the NZWBA will recognise him here and have placed him in the STUD BOOK section.
At his classification Klaus Wittlich, then president of the German Trakehner Verband, described Feuertänzer as "…an impressive stallion of very good Trakehner type with a very beautiful topline, a well formed croup and large joints.
"Further official comments from the approval committee included:"Very expressive and masculine stallion with very good breed type. Balanced and harmonious. Excellent neck set with excellent saddle position. Well muscled and proper angulations. Good bone and joint development and very good hooves."
Feuertänzer also inherited the lovely, refined head of his famous sire. His brilliant movement earned him consistent high scores at his inspection, along with the following comments: "Tracks up well and uses back and quarters. Good mover and well suited as a breeding stallion and sport horse
Proving his ability as an all-around athlete, Feuertänzer is a talented jumper. "He was particularly impressive over fences, with a good bascule, good leg action and skill
Also observed by the committee: "Very good technique, always finding proper distance and jumps eagerly. "Feuertänzer's most important attribute, his wonderful temperament, was also noticed on inspection day. Brad Kerbs, inspection committee chairman, described him as "quiet, tractable…an easy to handle horse
